A trio of Datapath gladiators recently endured the Tough Mudder challenge, raising money for a great cause.
Marketing Executive Chris Beck, Director of Customer and Technical support Dave Spence and Systems and Test Integration Manager David Brizell all took on the grueling course at Belvoir Castle, Grantham, Lincolnshire to raise much needed funds for Datapath’s chosen charity – Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Marketing Executive Chris reflected: “It’s a day we won’t forget. We started off with a gentle jog, all chatting and it was great team building, and then the challenges start. A lot of freezing water and a LOT of mud!”
“It was great fun though and something we are all really glad to have done. I encourage anyone who’s thinking of doing such a challenge to just sign up and do it. A few aches the following day is overwhelmed by the pride and sense of achievement.”
Birmingham Children’s Hospital is home to the largest Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Europe, providing lifesaving and life changing treatment to some of the sickest children across the UK. With over 400,000 patient visits each year, it cares for 1 in 8 families across the region. As a result of Dave, David and Chris’s efforts, they managed to raise just under £900 to this wonderful cause.
The hospital was selected as Datapath’s charity of choice after the young son of our Senior International Sales Manager, Andy Lee, was diagnosed with Craniosynostosis shortly after birth. Craniosynostosis is a birth defect in which the bones in a baby’s skull join together too early. He was 7 months old when they operated, and he was in surgery for 7 hours and then spent a week in recovery at the hospital. The superb facilities at BCH ensured Andy and Clair were able to stay with him in the hospital during his treatment.
