Datapath staff have been pushing themselves to the limit for charity, raising much needed funds for two worthwhile causes.
Continuing Datapath’s commitment to Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital, Events Manager Suzanne Bowery bravely took to the skies for a tandem sky dive. Her leap of faith has so far raised over £2,000 for the Hospital charity, bringing this year’s Datapath- raised funds total to nearly £5,000.
BCH is home to the largest Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Europe, providing lifesaving and life changing treatment to some of the sickest children across the UK. With over 400,000 patient visits each year, it cares for 1 in 8 families across the region.
The hospital was selected as Datapath’s charity of choice after the young son of our Senior International Sales Manager, Andy Lee, was diagnosed with Craniosynostosis shortly after birth. Craniosynostosis is a birth defect in which the bones in a baby’s skull join together too early.  He was 7 months old when they operated, and he was in surgery for 7 hours and then spent a week in recovery at the hospital. The superb facilities at BCH ensured Andy and Clair were able to stay with him in the hospital during his treatment.
The additional money raised by Suzanne will help to support Ward 10 – the ward where Alfie spent his time, as well as refreshing the parents’ accommodation areas.
Dave Spence, Datapath’s Director of Customer & Technical Support, was another to test his endurance for charity as he competed in the Touch Mudder challenge, organized by UK distributor Midwich.
Alongside Midwich employees and fellow manufacturers, Dave made his way through the gruelling 15k conditions to raise over £600 for chosen charity Dogs Trust.
On behalf of all at Datapath, we applaud Suzanne and Dave for their epic efforts and thank all who have donated to these great causes.
