Datapath; inspiring the nation

The London Stock Exchange Group’s annual ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain 2017’ report once again includes Datapath, world-leading engineers of visual solutions. Sponsored and supported by household names such as HSBC and The Telegraph, this high-profile publication is a yearly celebration of the UK’s fastest-growing and most dynamic SMEs.

Since its formation in 1982, Datapath has grown to serve customers in more than 100 countries across five continents, producing annual turnover in the region of £20-£30 million. This impressive success has been achieved by listening carefully to customer requirements, implementing continuous improvement strategies, and prioritising quality. A privately-held company with its headquarters in Derby, UK, and sales and support offices in the USA, France, Japan and China, Datapath now employees over 100 people worldwide.

The company had to meet a number of demanding selection criteria for the ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain 2017’ report. For example, average revenue growth (over a three-year period) of 50% of more, had to be demonstrated. Datapath also had to show strong sector performance; with those most outperforming their sector averages identified for inclusion.

As well as identifying 1000 companies, the report examines in detail the opportunities and challenges facing SMEs, and looks at the sectors and trends that will shape the future of the UK economy. This year’s report has received the support of the Government and major political parties; there are forewords from Prime Minister Theresa May, and from Rebecca Long Bailey, Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Datapath is listed in the report’s Technology & Digital sector. Operating in the technology industry is challenging as a result of ever-evolving market trading conditions and the rapid development of products. However, the report says the UK is becoming a digital nation, and that industry is helping to drive innovation and change across the economy. Today, there are some 58,000 digital tech businesses in the UK.

Bjorn Krylander, Managing Director of Datapath, says: “We are enjoying continued growth, both organically and by acquisition. Product development continues apace and we expect to see even greater revenue growth as we release new innovations. There continue to exist plenty of opportunities for Datapath in current and new market segments, both in the UK and overseas.”
