Datapath showcased its unique Quant application sharing software at InfoComm, demonstrating how its peer-to-peer technology works seamlessly with Datapath-powered video walls in command and control applications.
Quant brings considerable advantages to command and control rooms where project teams can work on the same document in real-time from different locations. Operation-critical applications benefit from using Quant because it allows users on the same network to view physical sources connected to a video wall controller, wherever they are. This gives them access to up-to-the-second information leading to better-informed decisions and faster response times.
Datapath Product Manager, Matthew Tibbitt, said: “Quant offers something truly unique to the command and control marketplace – the ability to manage and share applications from a central source and view on a single end point or a video wall.”
Quant’s capabilities also allow users to view and share application windows, as well as interact and make changes to original source files, even if the third party does not have the application software installed. As this is all done on a peer-to-peer network, there is no load or potentially sensitive traffic on IT department servers.
Matt adds: “The benefits work two ways – with remote teams able to view any element of the control room display and amend in real time, if required. With complete control over user permissions and editing rights, the scope it brings to control rooms is of huge benefit to organisations of all sizes.”
Three new features; Chat, Meeting and Quant Curtain enhancements all add significantly to Quant’s usability and functionality.
- Chat Function Allows users to message one another about the application window shared, and enables ongoing dialogue between users.
- Meeting Function Allows a user to lock either their own desktop or a Quant controlled video wall to a selected set of users. In a video wall scenario, a meeting organiser can determine who can share to the wall for instant viewing and avoid accidental sharing from others. This also increases security within meetings for shared video streams.
- Quant Curtain: The Quant curtain allow fast access to remote workstations and video walls that have applications being actively shared. Managers, Supervisors and Team Leaders can all access mission critical information from anywhere on the network by simply visiting the remote desktop in the curtain. The curtain can be quickly adapted to show the crucial desktops and video walls through the user of the new “favourites” feature, as well as an intuitive desktop re-ordering tool that is as simple as drag and drop.
Matthew Tibbitt added: “These new features will greatly enhance the user experience of Quant as well as adding to the software’s ease of use and security. We are constantly working with our customer community on ways to improve our products and our customers help us by actively requesting new features and revisions.”
