Thank you for taking the time to speak with us, Jacob. Could you begin by telling us about your career journey and how it led you to Datapath?
My Career journey began in 2025 when I began studying business management at Nottingham Trent University, I developed a strong interest in business operations, customer service, and how organisations work behind the scenes to deliver excellent customer experiences.
Having a hybrid course allowed me to join Datapath as a Customer Operations Assistant, where I have been able to apply what I have learned in a genuine business environment while continuing to develop new skills. The role has provided a fantastic opportunity to gain firsthand experience across order processing, logistics, customer support, and business systems.
What does an average day at Datapath look like for you?
No two days are the same, which is one of the things I enjoy about the role. A typical day involves processing customer orders, coordinating shipments, supporting customers with enquiries, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure orders are delivered accurately and on time.
I also spend time maintaining process documentation, working with CRM and ERP systems, and helping to resolve any issues that may arise throughout the order lifecycle.
Which parts of your role do you find the most rewarding, and what are some of the biggest challenges you face?
The most rewarding part of my role is knowing that I have helped deliver a positive experience for our customers. Whether that is resolving an issue or ensuring a shipment reaches its destination, it is satisfying to see the impact of the work we do and the types of places our products go to, from museums to space stations amongst many more.
One of the biggest challenges is balancing multiple priorities in a demanding environment. Customer requirements can change quickly, and international shipments can sometimes present unexpected obstacles. However, those challenges have helped me develop strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
When you are away from work, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling and visiting different cities across Europe whenever I get the opportunity. I like exploring new places, trying local food, and experiencing different cultures.
I am also a big fan of live music and regularly attend concerts and festivals throughout the year.
When I am not travelling, I enjoy spending time with friends and family and making the most of my weekends.
Finally, can you tell us something people may not know about you?
Something people may not know about me is that I enjoy looking into how different businesses are connected and how they grow over time. Whether it is following industry news or learning about company acquisitions and partnerships, it is something I have always found fascinating.
