Meet our people – Julia Baumgartner, Business Development Manager

New team member

Thank you for taking the time to talk to us, Julia. Can you talk us through your work history and how it led you to Datapath?

Eight and a half years ago, I started in sales at kvm-tec (the Austrian manufacturer of innovative KVM over IP solutions). A short time later, full of enthusiasm for sales, I became head of the sales and marketing team. It was during this role that I first crossed paths with Datapath when I approached them on a well-known business platform. I realised that in addition to the excellent products, there was also a great team, which I was personally very enthusiastic about. I worked for kvm-tec as Managing Director until the end of my employment. I am delighted to be able to support the Datapath team from now on.

After interviewing for the role I was pleased to find a good culture and a high performing marketing team where I could add value but also grow in my new role.

Could you give us some insight into what a typical day looks like for a Business Development Manager?

Monday morning – the week regularly begins with a fixed point: the sales meeting. At this meeting, details of the latest progress on joint projects are exchanged. This provides a good overview. I usually spend the next few hours developing contacts with existing business partners and building up relationships with new ones.  In addition, the exciting work of the Business Development Manager is rounded off by preparing for regular trade fair and customer visits.

What would you say are the most rewarding and challenging parts of your role?

For me, the most challenging and rewarding aspects of my role are specifically understanding Datapath’s diverse product offering in its entirety and at the same time making it easy for our business partners to understand. I look forward to learning a little more about it every day and never stop learning in this interesting environment.

How do you spend your time when you’re away from work?

When I’m not working, I prefer to spend my free time with my family, travelling or relaxing with a book in my garden.

Tell us something people may not know about you…

It’s always nice to see what you can create when you love what you do. This is also the case with my passion for leather artwork. In quieter times, I like to sit in my hobby room and make leather goods such as bags or key rings.
